Guest Parking in Your Housing Co-op — How Residents Book Spaces for Their Visitors
Guest parking keeps coming up at board meetings
Guest spaces are few, and everyone wants them. Some cars stay for days, unknown cars turn up, and the caretaker can't tell who is allowed to park. Notes on the dashboard and paper lists don't help much.
Housing co-ops and condominiums can now manage guest parking in Booking Map — the same system many already use for laundry and common rooms.
How it works for residents
- Open Booking Map on your phone and choose guest parking
- Choose whether your guest parks now, or plan the visit ahead
- Pick how long your guest will stay — up to 24 hours
- Enter the car's licence plate and your guest's name
- Confirm, and the space is booked
Guest staying longer, or leaving early? The resident changes the end time or ends the parking right in the app, so the space frees up for others.
How it works for the board and caretaker
- Decide how many guest spaces you have — overbooking is blocked
- Set the shortest and longest parking time, and how far ahead residents can book
- Limit how many active bookings each resident can have (the default is two)
- See every booking with its licence plate in the admin, and search by plate to check whether a car is allowed to park
- Add your own questions when needed, such as a phone number or a choice list
Free or paid — your choice
Many housing co-ops keep guest parking free. If you want to charge, set an hourly price. The resident pays when booking with Vipps, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the price is prorated per minute.
