Mobile Booking: Book Shared Resources from the Couch
Very few residents sit down at a PC to book laundry time. They do it on their phone — often while holding a basket of dirty clothes. That's why Booking Map is built mobile-first.
Why mobile matters for housing co-ops
When booking is as easy as sending a message, shared resources actually get used. Mobile-first gives:
- Booking whenever and wherever — from the couch, the bus, or work
- A lower barrier for older residents than a complex desktop program
- A faster path from "I need a time" to "the time is booked"
How the mobile experience works
An app without the App Store
Booking Map is a progressive web app. The resident adds it to their home screen with one tap, and it behaves like a regular app with its own icon — no App Store, no updates to download.
Booking in a few taps
Pick a date in the calendar, see free times in the visual overview, tap a slot and confirm. The whole flow takes seconds.
Dark mode and offline view
The app has dark mode for comfortable evening use, and caches pages you've recently viewed so you can see your bookings even with poor coverage.
Optional notifications
Turn on reminders and get notified before a booking starts, or if the board cancels or schedules maintenance. All in the language you chose — Norwegian or English.
Everyday scenarios from the co-op
Laundry on the way home
Kari is on her way home from work and realises she needs to do laundry tonight. On the bus she opens Booking Map, sees the evening slot is free, and books it — before she's home.
Guest parking for weekend visitors
Family is visiting this weekend. Per books the guest parking spot from his phone a few days ahead, and doesn't have to wonder whether there's room.
Cargo bike for a big shop
Ingrid is heading to IKEA. She quickly checks that the shared cargo bike is free on Saturday morning and reserves it in a few taps.
